Entertainment on a new level
Even novice gamers these days understand how a gaming mouse or headphones differ from the usual ones. But the word combination "gaming mouse pad" sometimes causes bewilderment. In fact, modern mice with laser sensor, unlike old ball mice, don't need a mouse pad at all - they can work on a desk, on a piece of paper, on an old book or on a 10 years old cork mat.
In theory this is the case, but in practice the properties of the surface the mouse works on significantly affect the speed of its movement and the accuracy of sensor positioning. Generally speaking, the smoother the surface, the faster the mouse glides over it. On the other hand, the rougher the mat, the more accurately the laser tracks movement. Since in modern games, and especially in eSports, speed and accuracy of reaction sometimes decides the outcome of the biggest battles, even such a modest accessory as a mat can lead a player to victory.
